Just two days after Newport resident Louise White came forward to claim her $336 million Powerball prize, Powerball officials have announced that another Ocean State Powerball player has won the game. Powerball officials have announced that Wednesday night's $60 million winning ticket was purchased in Rhode Island. The winning numbers are 12 35 45 46 47 with Powerball 12. It has yet to be announced where the ticket was purchased, but Ocean State residents will surely wait with wonder to find out, just as they did with the $336 million prize. Newport's White took a few weeks to come forward to claim the 3rd largest Powerball jackpot in the history of the game. Purchased at the Stop & Shop in Newport, White said on Tuesday that it all …

Before Powerball crossed state lines, Tiverton benefited from being a border town selling the lottery tickets.
Following up on Tuesday's announcement of the $334.6 million Powerball Jackpot winner, WPRI released a financial report from the Rhode Island Lottery that showed Tiverton ranks first in the state for lottery sales per capita. The data, from 2010, records sales before neighboring Massachusetts began offering Powerball. When the latest Powerball Jackpot hit $250 million in early February, local convenience store owners admitted that fewer people are crossing state lines to play in Tiverton.

What would you have done with the prize money?
Okay, so it's a little anti-climactic when you hear that a Rhode Island ticket took home the big prize and you realize it wasn't you. But what if it was? According to a tweet from @RILottery, the $336.4 million winning ticket was purchased from the Stop & Shop located at 250 Bellevue Ave., in Newport. Officials say the ticket holder has yet to come forward. With the winning ticket so close to Tiverton and Little Compton (and still not claimed after two days), it has made many fantasize about what they might have done with the money had they won. So tell us, what would you have done with $336.4 million? Would you have given any to charity? Would you go on a month-long vacation? Would you have quit your job, bought a Ferrari and sailed away …

Despite the latest Powerball Jackpot estimated at $250 million, increased ticket prices and the neighboring state of Massachusetts acquiring Powerball has hurt Tiverton convenience store owners.
Elaine's Country Store in Tiverton has giant letters out front and a sign at the clerk counter telling customers about the $250 million estimated Powerball Jackpot, but there aren't any lines forming. Owner Joseph Sabino said it's been a little busier than usual due to the jackpot, but since neighboring Massachusetts got Powerball, there has been a big change in how many people come in to play numbers at his Tiverton store. "It's partly the economy," he said Wednesday, "but I don't have these big lines coming in to play exclusively." Sabino said before Rhode Island and Massachusetts shared Powerball and Mega Millions, residents from as far as Cape Cod, New Bedford and Fall River would come to Tiverton to play Powerball. "I used to drive …

His $157,371 jackpot was earned on a ticket purchased in Tiverton.
A Portsmouth man claimed the $157,371 Wild Money jackpot from Tuesday’s drawing. It was purchased at Elaine's Country Store in Tiverton. According to Rhode Island Lottery, the 56-year-old man was shaking Thursday morning as he filled out the paperwork required to claim the winning ticket. This is actually the second time he’s won big. About 20 years ago, he said he won $750,000 playing Lot-O-Bucks. The man said he plans on giving the money to his wife. He declined to give his name. Joseph Sabino, owner of Elaine's, said Thursday this is roughly the second time in the neighborhood of two years they've drawn a Wild Money winner. In a phone interview, he said the last Wild Money ticket winner from his store was around $132,000. The Wild Money…
