The Tiverton Tigers are looking to forget last year's loss to Rogers High School on Thanksgiving Day as the Tiverton High School football team kicks off seeking redemption, and a spot in the 2012 playoffs. The game starts at 10:15 a.m. at the Tiverton High School field. The cost is $5 and under 12 get in free. Tiverton is currently 3-5 in Div. III play this year, sitting in fifth place, while Narragansett currently owns the fourth - and final - playoff slot with at 13-point lead. Last year Rogers' Vikings defeated the Tiverton Tigers 34-8. What a difference a year makes. Last year the East Greenwich Avengers fell to the Tiverton Tigers in a tough 41 to 14 loss. Now, in its third game of the season, the East Greenwich High School (EGHS) varsity football team walked away with a 28 to 6 win. The Avengers currently stand with a 2-0 division record and an overall 3-0 record. Under the watchful eye of a small but vocal fan base, the Avengers did not put up any points until the second quarter when Carney Crawford ran in the first touchdown of the game with Alex Cleary making the extra point kick. The Avengers came on strong in the third quarter with Cleary returning a Tiger fumble for a touchdown, followed by a long run for a second touchdown by Cleary. Cleary made both extra …

The Tiverton High School girls summer league team continued their winning ways on Tuesday night, defeating the Chariho girls 5-1 at Ninigret Park in Charlestown. Tiverton came out aggressive early and had several good scoring chances before finally breaking through in the 23rd minute on a goal by Colleen Gillis off of a perfectly placed corner kick from Eileen Kinnane. Six minutes later Amber Silva split the Chariho defense with a pass to Samantha Welchman who finished the play by tucking the ball into the lower right corner. The score remained 2-0 until the second half when Olivia Bergandy took over the game and scored two goals within a seven-minute span shortly after half …
