Massachusetts Man Arrested On Drug Charges

A Whitman, MA man was arrested on multiple drug charges after police found him wandering Fish Road.

A Whitman, MA man was charged on multiple drug counts after Tiverton police received reports that a suspicious man was wandering the streets around Fish Road at 10:40 p.m. on July 14. According to Lt. Patrick Jones, public information officer, officers found Jonathan Raposo, 28, of 519 Hog Memorial Drive, Whitman, MA, in the area of Fish Road. According to reports, Raposo told officers that he abandoned his car in a driveway because he believed he as being chased. Police found Raposo's car nearby, it had gone off of te road and struck a pole. "Upon removing the vehicle, officers found inside suspected marijuana, Oxycodone, 110 pills of an unknown scheduled substance and 17 Alprazolam," said Jones. Carver Man Charged With Possessing Stolen Goods, Drugs

Tiverton Police arrested a Massachusetts man for possession of stolen goods and drugs after stopping him for not wearing a safety belt on Fish Road.

Tiverton Police said a routine traffic stop ended in the arrest of a 23-year-old Carver, MA man after a search of his vehicle turned up drugs and stolen goods. According to Lt. Patrick Jones, police stopped Jared Sheldon, 23, of 21 Marks Way, Carver, MA, on Fish Road because he was not wearing a safety belt. A subsequent computer check showed that Sheldon's license was suspended and he was placed under arrest on July 14 at 7:14 p.m. "Mr. Sheldon's passenger also had a suspended license, so police called in a tow and while preparing the vehicle to tow, between the passenger seat and center console police found six orange pills recognized by the officer as Suboxone," said Jones.  Police continued a search of the car and found a backpack …

Tiverton Police: DUI, Domestics, and Warrants

Portsmouth Man Arrested For Drunken-Driving Ryan J. Kirtland, 25, of 22 Riverside St., Portsmouth, was arrested on Wednesday, July 4 at 1:41 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence, first offense, refusal to submit to a chemical test, and resisting arrest. According to reports, a Tiverton Police officer who was driving on Rt. 24 south saw Kirtland’s car traveling at a slow rate of speed and watched it swerve several times. After stopping him, the officer noted the smell of alcohol on Kirtland’s breath and asked him to complete a field sobriety test, which he failed. Dartmouth Man Arrested For Domestic Vandalism Nicholas Lewis, 22, of 679 Fisher Road Apt. 3, Dartmouth, was arrested Sunday, June 24 at 4:30 p.m. and charged with domestic vandalism after he allegedly broke his girlfriend’s phone. According to reports, Tiverton Police received a call from a manager of Dania Food Mart who allegedly overheard a man, later identified as Lewis, making verbal threats against his girlfriend. Police were able to identify the man as Lewis from evidence at the scene, but according to Lt. Patrick Jones, the victim refused to cooperate with police and denied that Lewis had made threats against her. Tiverton Police Log: Central Falls Man Arrested On Multiple Charges

Tiverton Police arrested Carlos Ramos, 24, of 6 Fales St., Central Falls, on Wednesday June 20 at 7:15 p.m. and charged him with driving without a license, obstructing and officer, and took him into custody on a Sixth Division District Court bench warrant. Police stopped Ramos car on Main Road at about 6:45 p.m. after an officer noticed Ramos and his passengers were not wearing seat belts. After running a computer check on Ramos and his passengers, police realized Ramos had given officers a false identity and soon learned it was because he was wanted on a district court bench warrant for failure to appear for a payment review. After confirming that Ramos also did not have a valid license, officers arrested Ramos for the active bench …

Domestic Assault Rhianna Gardener, 38, of 564 East Rd., Apt. 2, Tiverton, was arrested on Friday, June 15 at 1:30 a.m. She was charged with domestic simple assault. According to Lt. Patrick Jones, police arrived at Gardener's apartment shortly after midnight for a report that Gardener and her ex-boyfriend were arguing. Officers learned that the argument began when Gardener's ex-boyfriend and father of her two children refused to give her a ride and she allegedly punched him in the face twice. Police noted the victim had injuries to his face that were consistent with his story and took Gardener into custody. She was held overnight at Tiverton Police headquarters and arraigned in Second Division District Court the following morning. Domestic…

Tiverton Police: Woman Allegedly Bloodies Sister's Face, Assault and 2 DUIs

Sister allegedly bloodies sibling's face Melissa Helger, 27, of Fall River, was arrested by Tiverton police at 8:07 p.m., Sunday, June 10. She was charged with domestic simple assault. Police were dispatched to 2638 Main Road for a report of a woman with blood on her neck, according to Lt. Patrick Jones. Officers observed a woman sitting on a bench in the front yard area, and reportedly saw a "significant" amount of blood around her head and neck. "She had several lacerations to her face," Jones said, noting officers saw a bite mark near her right eye. "She had allegedly been in a fight with her sister." Police Say Man Flees Cab, Hides in Tiverton Woods

Tiverton police arrested a Somerset man after he allegedly fled his taxi in the early morning hours, hid in the woods and charged at an officer when discovered. Scott Bettancourt, 34, of 148 Moffit Ave., Somerset, MA, was arrested at 3:09 a.m., on Sunday, June 10. He was charged with evading to pay a taxi cab fare, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Officers responded to the area of 138 Bulgarmarsh Road at 2:51 a.m. for a cab driver's report who stated a man refused to pay his fare and jumped out of the vehicle, according to Lt. Patrick Jones. Newport Man Charged After Allegedly Threatening Woman, Kids in Car

A Newport man received domestic assault and disorderly conduct charges after he allegedly threatened harm to his girlfriend in front of a car full of children. Joseph R. Smith, 30, of Newport, was arrested by Tiverton police at 5:55 p.m., Wednesday, May 30. He was charged with domestic simple assault and battery and domestic disorderly conduct. Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of Family Physicians of Tiverton, 1800 Main Road, for a report of a domestic incident in progress, said Lt. Patrick Jones. Officers spoke to a woman who said she got into an argument with her boyfriend, Smith, while in a car ride with five children between the ages of 4 and 12. Woman Drinking In Bristol Before Crash, Catapult Onto Tiverton Beach, Police Say

Tiverton police charged a Massachusetts woman with drunk driving resulting in serious bodily injury following a two-car accident in late April that resulted in a Jeep Cherokee flying over a seawall and landing on Grinnell's Beach. Karisa Alyse King, 19, of Clayton Mill Road, Southfield, MA, was arrested at 1:40 p.m., Friday, May 25. She is being charged with driving under the influence resulting in serious bodily injury (first offense). She is scheduled for arraignment in Newport District Court on Thursday, June 7.
