Tiverton Middle School Students Celebrate Nation's Patriots Tonight

Tiverton Middle School Students will hold a wax museum event tonight to celebrate the nation's patriots.

The Tiverton Middle School sixth graders will be hold "A Night at the Museum" tonight from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. to celebrate the nation's most famous Patriots.   Students have researched primary and secondary sources related to their chosen Patriots and, dressed in character, they will provide a brief account of the patriot's accomplishments during the American Revolution. Tiverton Middle School invites the public to visit the wax museum tonight, Thursday, March 7.  The event will take place from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Tiverton Middle School cafeteria.

Students Unveil Mural at Tiverton Middle School

Tiverton Middle School students unveiled the latest in a series of murals in the school's stairwell.

One wall, 8 weeks, 14 students. Those are the ingredients for the latest in a series of murals meant to brighten the cinder block walls of Tiverton Middle School.  The colorful mural unveiled in a stairwell of the school last week paints a picture of positivity for students. Created during the inaugural session of a new arts-based after school program, Tiverton After School Arts (TASA), students worked to pain the mural togetherunder the guidance of middle school art teacher Adam Tracy.  "I wanted to do some type of positive message," said Tracy, who designed the mural that the students painted. TMS Students To Reveal Third School Mural Tonight

Tiverton Middle School's artists will reveal the third in a series of murals meant to adorn the halls at school.

Tiverton Middle School students will unveil a third mural today that will hang in the halls of the school. For the past six weeks 14 students under the artistic guidance of Tiverton Middle School art teacher Adam Tracy have been creating a  new mural to be added to the walls of Tiverton Middle School. The mural is the third in a series of murals created by students. It will be unvieled for students, staff, families and friends on Wednesday December 5th at 5 p.m. at the school.  Mural Art has been part of the after school arts program implemented by Tiverton After School Arts (TASA) a new group in town whose mission is to provide quality after school arts programs throughout all Tiverton schools.

RIEMA Opens Tiverton Middle School As Shelter On Sunday Evening

EMA officials continue to prepare for hurricane Sandy, opening the Tiverton Middle School as a hurricane-approved shelter for residents in the area.

The Tiverton Middle School, a hurricane-approved shelter by state Emergency Management Agency (RIEMA) standards, opens to the public at 7 p.m. on Sunday. Local emergency management personnel are monitoring the storm and working hand-in-hand with RIEMA to gather information needed to make critical storm related decisions.  In preparation for the severe rain, wind, and possible flooding expected from Hurricane Sandy which is forecasted to strike our area on Monday Tiverton will be opening a shelter at the Tiverton Middle School (10 Quintal Drive) at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28th. The preferred response would be to stay with family or friends, however, anyone seeking shelter is encouraged to make use of the High School facility. Tiverton, Little Compton Schools Announce Cancellations on Monday, Oct. 29

Hurricane Sandy is giving students a day off across the region on Monday.

On Sunday afternoon, town and school officials in both Tiverton and Little Compton made the decision to cancel school on Monday, Oct. 29 due to the impending hurricane. Tiverton Middle School will be used as a temporary shelter for anyone in need beginning at 7 p.m. on Sunday. Stay with Tiverton-Little Compton Patch for more updates as they become available.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: TMS Names Students of the Month

Tiverton Middle School names four Students of the Month for September.

  Four Tiverton Middle School students were recognized in the month of September for their effort, responsibility, maintaining school safety, having a positive attitude and showing respect toward others. The children honored were Christopher Sylvia, Grade 8; Sam Pelletier, Grade 7; George Moniz, Grade 6; and Alexis Andrade, Grade 5.

More Than 150 Tiverton Middle School Art Pieces Featured at Annual Show

The art show raises some funds for the arts department while showing off students' work.

Tiverton Middle School held their second annual spring show, which takes place the same night as the bands spring concert at the high school. The free show included more than 150 works done by all grades over the course of this year. "We hold it to show off the great work our students do and to raise some funds for our department," said art teacher Adam Tracy. "We had another great turnout and a ton of positive feedback from everyone who attended. The students take a lot of pride in seeing the work they've put so much time into hanging on display for all to see."
