Library Groundbreaking Projected for May 2013

A representative from the Tiverton Library Building Committee said construction on the new building would begin in May 2013.

A representative from Tiverton's Library Building Committee reported at Monday's council meeting that constructio on the town's new library would begin in May and likely last 16 to 18 months. Since voters approved a $7 million bond on Nov. 8, 2011, several trustee groups have been hard at work fundraising money to build a new state-of-the-art library for Tiverton. According to Dr. Leon Hoyer of the Essex Library's building committe, more than $3.4 million was raised to aid in construction costs. The entire project is estimated at $11.6 million. Children's Cartoonist Comes to Tiverton on Wednesday

As part of the Essex Public Library's summer reading program, a cartoonist will come to the Knights of Columbus Hall on Wednesday and inspire reading through comedy and fun.

If your little reader loves comic books and wants to create one too, join the Tiverton Library's summer reading program. Cartoonist Eric Fulford uses ideas from the audience to draw and tell the story of a brand new comic book hero at the Knights of Columbus Hall, located on Fish Road on Wednesday, July 18 at 10:30 a.m Fulford is a seasoned actor, comic artist and a certified educator whose free 45-minute program is designed for fun, comedy and creativity for children ages 4-10. Tiverton Library Services 2012 summer reading program, “Dream Big-READ!” is sponsored by Amica Insurance and continues through July 31.
