Tiverton Senior Citizen Arrested After Neighborly Tiff

  Thomas J. Blisko, 68, of 120 Hambly Road Apt. POB97, Tiverton, was arrested on Monday, May 13 at 5:29 a.m. and charged with disorderly conduct after police were dispatched to his address for an ongoing dispute between Blisko and his neighbor. When police arrived they reportedly witnessed Blisko standing at the edge of his property, about eight feet away from his neighbor, screaming, yelling and trying to provoke a confrontation. The neighbor alleged that Blisko repeats this behavior nearly every morning, waking at 5 a.m. to harass his neighbor as he leaves for work. Tiverton Mother Falsely Accuses Daughter of Assault

Motherly Love Helen M. Keszyinki, 56, of 730 Winwood Drive Apt. 207, was arrested on Friday, May 3, at 11:51 a.m. and charged with filing a false report of a crime. Keszyinki allegedly lied to Tiverton police about a conflict with her daughter and claimed her daughter stole money from her. Keszyinki made allegations that her daughter physically assaulted her and stole several hundred dollars, but after police spoke with the daughter - who had an alibi for the alleged time of the crime - it was clear that Keszyinki was lying.  Keszyinki was arrested and processed at Tiverton police headquarters where she was later released on a summons to appear for arraignment in Second Division District Court on May 9. Fall River Man Charged With DUI, Three Times Legal Limit

  A Fall River, MA, man was charged with drunken driving after his car crashed while driving with a Blood Alcohol Count allegedly three times the legal limit.  Kevin P. Theberge, 27, of 299 Field St. Apt. 1, was arrested on April 28 at 6:03 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence. He was arrested after he apparently lost control of his green Subaru, which collided with a boulder on Judson Street. Police found Theberge inside his car, which sustained heavy front-end damage. Police said Theberge displayed signs of alcohol intoxication and submitted to a field sobriety test, which he failed, and a preliminary Breathalyzer test. He registered a .236 on the preliminary Breathalyzer and, at the station, he registered a .255 and .262. …

New Bedford Man Charged With Weapons, Drugs

Speeding lead to jail time for two New Bedford men when they were stopped by Tiverton Police.

  A traffic stop lead to jail time for two New Bedford men after Tiverton Police allegedly found weapons and drugs in their car. A Tiverton Police officer stopped Aaron Brito, 31, of 117 Reed St., New Bedford for speeding on Route 24 shortly after 11 p.m. because he was allegedly traveling 80 mph in a marked 55 mph zone. Brito was arrested on April 28 after police discovered he had a suspended license. The passenger, Christian Monteiro, 32, also of New Bedford, reportedly gave police a false name, admitting to officers that he believed he had a warrant. During a subsequent search of Brito's car, police found an expandable police-type baton and a 3.5-inch blade in the center console. Officers also uncovered a single Oxycodone pill - for …

Newport Police Confiscate Heroin After Surveillance in Tiverton

The following arrest was reported by the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

  A confidential informant led to an arrest and confiscation of almost $3,000 of heroin Wednesday after surveillance in Tiverton, according to police. Newport Police arrested Deana Furtado, 39, of 85 California St., Fall River and charged her with possession of drugs after police found the drugs in car. The informant said Furtado would arrive at Shell Station parking lot by the rotary at 2:00 p.m., driving a gold Cadillac.  Police set up surveillance of the gas station and watched Furtado pull into the parking lot. The car's registration matched the address of a house in Tiverton where she had been staying, said police. Police initially found 12 blue wax bags of heroin inside a black hat.   Tiverton Man Arrested For Violating No Contact Order Against Family Robert Pimental, 45, of 120 Horizon Drive, Tiverton, was arrested on Thursday, April 11 at 6:27 p.m. and charged with violating a protective order blocking him from seeing his former wife and two children. According to police reports, Tiverton Police received a 911 call at 7:10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9 that Pimental had attempted to see his family, but had left by the time police arrived. Two days later police arrested Pimental at his home.   Sara J. The 43-year-old Fall River man charged with shooting up a Tiverton pub over the weekend faces multiple felony weapons charges in Massachusetts in addition to Rhode Island charges. Following a drive-by shooting just before 11:30 p.m. on Saturday at Benjamin's Sports Pub, Fall River Police arrested Scott Campbell, 43, of 56 Warren St., Fall River, after witnesses identified his car from the shooting. Campbell allegedly fired two shots at the bar from his orange Dodge Neon at about 11:25 p.m. on Saturday as he drove past the establishment.   Drunk and Disoderly Leads To Night In Jail  Derek Paul Luz, 22, of 65 Lucas St., New Bedford, MA, was arrested on Saturday, April 6 at 10:16 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct after he allegedly caused a scene at a local restaurant when a bartender refused to serve him any more drinks. Tiverton Police found Luz, who was reportedly highly intoxicated, yelling and screaming in the bar area at Spring Primavera Restaurant. When Luz refused to calm down even for police, he was arrested  for his disorderly behavior and held overnight at Tiverton Police headquarters. Police: Violent Crimes on the Rise in Tiverton

After a drive-by shooting on Stafford Road on Saturday, police said Tiverton needs more resources to combat rising violent crime trends.

  Violent crimes in Tiverton are on the rise - and have been over the past 10 years. But despite increases in population and crimes against persons in the last decade, the Tiverton Police Department has not received increases in staffing. Tiverton has the second highest number of crimes - after Newport - in the county, according to an annual State Police statistics report, yet it operates with a police force that does not meet minimum federal staffing requirements. "Federal guidelines are that we are supposed to be between 31 to 32 [officers] in order to be a proactive police department and not a reactive one," said Chief Thomas Blakey in an interview on Tuesday. Tiverton Police: Portsmouth Woman Arrested on Domestic Violence and Drug Charges

  Domestic Violence and Drug Charges Nancy Louise Dubois, 52, of 2743 East Main Road, Portsmouth, was arrested on Wednesday, March 24 at 6:50 p.m. and charged with domestic simple assault, domestic vandalism and felony drug possession after she allegedly broke into her ex-boyfriend's home and attacked him. According to reports, Dubois bent a screen to enter her ex-boyfriend's Bridle Way home, struck him twice in the neck and threw a cup of coffee at him before taking off in her car. Police reportedly caught up to Dubois driving back to Portsmouth on Route 24 south near Eagleville Road and stopped her.
