State Police are reportedly leading an investigation into a fatal crash on the Mt. Hope Bridge Saturday night.
Updated at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Motorists were directed to find alternate routes Saturday night after police closed Mt. Hope Bridge to all traffic following a serious motor vehicle crash. Multiple sources from both the Portsmouth Fire and Police Departments confirmed the crash involved a fatality. Information about the victim or possible victims is unknown at this time. According to The Providence Journal, one man died and five other people were injured after a two-vehicle crash around 7 p.m. The identity of the deceased man and those injured have not been released. A West Warwick man was arrested after he allegedly tripped an alarm when breaking into a Dunkin Donuts in Tiverton.
After a four-month investigation, the Rhode Island State Police arrested a known West Warwick felon today in connection with multiple burglaries around the state, including an attempted break-in at a Tiverton business. David R. Degrasse, 46, of 38 East Street Apt. 2, West Warwick, was arrested during the early morning hours of Thursday, July 26 and charged with three counts of breaking and entering into a building at night with intent to commit a felony, attempted breaking and entering and possession of burglary tools. According to State Police Capt. Michael J. Winquist, detective commander, Degrasse allegedly attempted to break into a Tiverton Dunkin Donuts last week.
