Ten members of the Tiverton Fire Department got their heads shaved at McFadden's in Providence Wednesday night as part of a fundraiser for the St. Baldrick's Foundation. The department raised nearly $1,700 for the charity, according to one member of Tiverton Firefighters Local 1703. Numerous fire departments around the state now participate in the annual buzz-cut for the California-based non-profit, which commits its funding toward research for childhood cancers and help survivors live longer, healthier lives. Firefighter Jason Andrade said it is the department's second year participating.
