A glimpse of life around Tiverton and Little Compton.
Do you like to take pictures? Have you recently captured a shot of something neat in town? The patience and persistence of photographer Justin Hunt paid off Tuesday night when trying to capture a photograph of the Transit of Venus. Hunt said he took the photo from his backyard, and the clouds were not working in his favor. The clouds cleared for about 45 seconds for Hunt to grab this shot. Thanks for sharing! A glimpse of daily life in and around Tiverton and Little Compton.
Joey Maiato of Little Compton finished his senior project requirement for graduation from Portsmouth High School by completing the Cox Sports Marathon in Providence on Sunday. Joey is in the orange shirt crossing the line in one of the attached pictures. His official time was 2:59:27. He finished 35th overall and first in the 19-and-under division at a 6:51 mile pace. According to his father Joe, it appears that Joey was the fourth Rhode Islander to finish. The first page of the race results sheet is attached to this post. Joey's time qualified him for the Boston Marathon, and he also finished in first place in the 19-and-under division in the New Bedford Half Marathon a few weeks ago. Attention keen photographers! Tiverton-Little Compton Patch always welcomes your submitted photos for publication. The new Facebook Timeline redesign gave a huge space to post your banner photo. As we converted to the new look, it became obvious that the banner photo should say something about the towns. We called out for ideas on Facebook and photographer Meredith Brower sent in the spectacular shot of Fogland Point. More photos followed. We plan to switch out the banner photo every couple of weeks or so, depending on what we have.
