Cranston's Olivia Culpo Crowned Miss Universe
Cranston's own Olivia Culpo took home the crown last night after she was named Miss Universe.
Cranston's own Olivia Culpo has another crown to put next to her Miss USA crown — Miss Universe. Culpo, who won the Miss USA title in June, is a Cranston native. Culpo wore a Sherri Hill dress and shoes from Chinese Laundry when she was named a top 16 finalist. In an interview during the show, Culpo said one thing people might not know about her is "I'm really easy going." "Any joke — I'll get it. A lot of time, people think of beauty queens almost being plastic. I can take jokes. I can take anything," she said. In the evening gown competition, Culpo wore a long, red flowing dress with revealing cleavage. Host Guliana Rancic said she was "certainly a mermaid," and "looks like a jewel." Rhode Island's Olivia Culpo Wins Miss USA Competition
Cranston's own Olivia Culpo has been crowned Miss USA.
Miss Rhode Island is going to have to get used to another name: Miss USA. Olivia Culpo, a 19-year-old Cranston native, is an honor student at Boston University, accomplished cellist and is now one of the country's top beauty queens after she was named Miss USA Sunday night. She impressed the judges at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas by giving thoughtful responses to questions, displaying poise in her evening gown and of course, flaunting her good looks. She is now in the running for Miss Universe.
