Little Compton Fixing Leaks in Town Hall Roof
The work has been ongoing since last month.
Driven by worries about the council chamber ceiling leaking, laborers spent the last month making repairs to the roof of Little Compton Town Hall. Throughout November, scaffolding was up at Town Hall. Council President Robert Mushen said sections of the council chamber ceiling, located on the second floor, showed evidence of leaking for quite some time. "We got local contractors to go up there and inspect and remove rotted wood in the soffits and the gutters are a concern," Mushen said. The work cost "several hundred dollars" and Mushen added he is unsure when it will be completed. Town Clerk Carol Wordell estimated the building is around 200 years old and recalled the last time the roof received repairs was in the 1980s.
