Little Compton Police: Westport Man Arrested For Pot Possession

The following reports are based solely on information supplied by the Little Compton Police Department. Arrests do not necessarily indicate a conviction.

  Kameron Britto, 21, of 8 Pond Drive, Westport, MA, was arrested on Friday, Feb. 1 at 10:47 p.m. and charged with possession of marijuana, first offense. Police stopped Britto for a motor vehicle violation and discoverd the drugs in a subsequent search. Little Compton Police also reported one accident due to snow on Sunday, Feb. 3.

Little Compton Police: Suspended License Leads to Felony Drug Possession Charge

  Fall River Man Arrested For Driving With Expired License Gene Carvalho, 60, of Fall River, MA, was arrested on Monday, Nov. 12 at 9:28 a.m. and charged with driving with an expired license. Little Compton Police stopped Carvalho on West Main Road for a traffic infraction and learned his license was invalid. He was released with a court summons. Suspended License Arrest Leads to Felony Drug Possession Charge Joseph S. Rocha, 26, of Fall River, MA, was arested on Monday, Nov. 12 at 4:14 p.m. and charged with possession of Suboxone and driving with a suspended license. Police stopped Rocha on South Shore Road and a subsequent computer check showed Rocha's license was suspended. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters where a …

Taunton Man Arrested For Suspended License, Warrant Scottie T. Couto, 30, of Taunton, MA, was arrested on Sunday, July 15 at 9:57 p.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license. Police stopped Couto for a motor vehicle infraction when a subsequent showed that his license was suspended and that he had a warrant for his arrest for failure to pay district court fines. He was arrested, processed and later arraigned at the station. Damaged Lifeguard Chair A South Shore Beach employee reported on Wednesday, July 11 at 12:25 a.m. that someone moved a lifeguard chair to the water’s edge. They also reported damage to the chair. Stolen Bicycle A resident reported on Sunday, July 15 at 11:15 a.m. that someone stole his daughters bicycle …

Little Compton Police: Pot Possession, Drunken Driving and A Smashed Birdhouse

Arrest Warrant Elias Desouza, 21, of 27 William Sisson Road, Little Compton, was arrested on June 15 at 7:17 p.m. on an oustanding warrant for nonpayment of Second District Court fines. Driving In Possession Of Alcohol Mark Hassan, 19, of 745 Union St., Portsmouth, was arrested June 15 at 8:56 p.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license and driving with a presence of alcohol in his car after police stopped him for allegedly speeding. Drunken Driving Timothy Nadeau, 23, of 206 Forge Road, Westport, was arrested on June 17 at 5:40 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence after the car he was driving was involved in a collision on Main Street. Nadeau's passenger was transported to the hospital for minor injuries. Stolen …

Little Compton Pursuing Storm Reimbursement From FEMA

Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency toured Little Compton last Friday to get an early sense for necessary reimbursement costs incurred by Hurricane Irene.

Since President Barack Obama declared Rhode Island a disaster area following Hurricane Irene, storm management expenses for Rhode Island cities and towns will be eligible for a percentage of government reimbursement. Little Compton Business Manager Thomas Dunn reported that town officials met with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) last Friday, Sept. 2, and learned, after receiving some early cost estimates, that the town may be eligible for at least 75 percent reimbursement for certain categorized expenses. How those costs are categorized by FEMA remains unknown. Power Remains Out in Little Compton

Little Compton's Police Chief reported this morning that National Grid crews are all over the area.

It has not been confirmed, but with the fiery toppling of a high tension power line on Main Road in South Tiverton (near Town Farm Recreation Area) on Sunday morning when Tropical Storm Irene was ripping through the region, mostly all power in Little Compton went out. On Monday morning, Police Chief Sidney Wordell reported that most power is still out but National Grid crews were finally seen coming to several locations in the area. Throughout the storm on Sunday, Wordell's department was running low on police cruisers to remained stationed at various roads that were not passable, either due to down trees, power lines or both. Hi Thank you to the Little Compton/Tiverton Fire and police departments for helping us. We were taken to the Middle School Shelter, however they couldn't help us. Due to our Oxygen and medical needs. We were then transferred to Charlton Memorial Hospital where they held us until the wires and debris were cleaned up. We then went home Monday afternoon. Electricity went on at 8:45PM. Towns Name Emergency Shelters; Woman Offers Pet Shelter

Tiverton and Little Compton town officials are concurring with the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency on final hurricane procedures Friday and Saturday.

As Hurricane Irene nears, town officials in Tiverton and Little Compton named their emergency shelters on Friday. A Tiverton resident has also stepped forward to take in pets who need shelter. Tiverton Fire Capt. Mark Reimels said the Tiverton Middle School, located at 10 Quintel Drive off Bulgarmarsh Road, will be serving as the town's emergency shelter. It is set to open at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27. Little Compton Emergency Management Director Robert Mushen said the Public Safety Complex, located at 60 Simmons Road, will be serving as the town's shelter, but it does not have any sleeping facilities.
