Two kayakers were treated for non-life threatening injuries after being rescued from the Sakonnet River near the Little Compton shore on Monday night.
Two kayakers were treated for non-life threatening injuries after being rescued from the Sakonnet River when they flipped their kayak on Monday night. According to Fire Chief Richard Petrin, the male victims, 21 and 26, both of Fall River, MA, were in the water for about an hour before being rescued. The pair was transported by Little Compton Fire Rescue to St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River, MA where they were treated for exhaustion minor hypothermia. "People on shore heard screams for help and alerted us to the emergency," said Petrin. Little Compton Police received an emergency call at 7:51 p.m. from a Bailey's Ledge Road resident who reported hearing screams coming from the waters of the Sakonnet River near their home.
