Voting on Tiverton High School student Megan Kelchner's Google design closes on May 10, which is tomorrow.
It's been a week since Tiverton High School senior Megan Kelchner's recognition for her vibrant and second consecutive finalist selection in the Doodle 4 Google contest. Voting is open from May 2 through May 10 at the Doodle 4 Google website. Here's Kelchner's design "A Looong Trip" on the contest website, and here's the direct voting page for her design. Voting closes tomorrow. Kelchner's recognition has stretched beyond Tiverton, to reports from The Boston Globe to a piece in Woman's Day about her 2011 submission "Google Noir" (it's the third one down).

The final public hearings on Little Compton's $11.3 million school bond referendum on May 1 are this week.
The $11.3 million Little Compton school bond special referendum is next Tuesday, May 1. It's from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Wilbur-McMahon gymnasium. The final public hearings are this Wedesday, April 25 at 7 p.m. and this Saturday, April 28 at 9 a.m., both in the school gym. The April 5 public hearing was covered, and a sample ballot is attached to this post. For more information:

The deadline to file tax returns and pay taxes owed is April 17, according to the Internal Revenue Service. We found a list of handy accountants around the state in last week's Readers' Choice poll. Jim Towers & Associates at 84 Main Road took the most votes for Tiverton and Little Compton. There are also several ways to file your taxes easily online. The following is from the Little Compton Historical Society: Friday, March 30 is the last day for local artists to drop off their submissions at the Little Compton Historical Society for possible inclusion in the society's new book on Little Compton History. Over 50 artists are participating and submissions include paintings, sculpture, quilts, hand-woven rugs, even jewelry. The following day, all of the submissions will be reviewed by a three person jury who will select approximately 14 works of art to illustrate "The History of Little Compton, A Home by the Sea, 1820-1954" written by Janet Lisle and published by the Little Compton Historical Society. The book will be available to the public this July. All submitted work will be exhibited…
