Fort Barton Elementary School students are participating in Peapod's Kid's Give Back Program to apply nutrition to giving food donations to the East Bay Community Action Program's Food Pantry in Tiverton.
Fort Barton Elementary fourth graders browsed the virtual grocery aisles of Peapod delivery service on Wednesday, and will learn to stretch a healthy food budget for a food pantry donation. The food pyramid and knowing how to compare food labels were stressed by Peg Merzbacher, director of marketing for Peapod by Stop & Shop, who was visiting Fort Barton as part of the company's Kid's Give Back Program. The class received $250 and over the next three weeks, they will educate themselves about nutrition and wise eating habits. Once completed, the students will place an order at Peapod and make a donation to the Tiverton East Bay Community Action Program's Food Pantry in the form of food baskets.
