Tiverton Man Arrested on Third Domestic Assault Charge

The following reports were supplied by the Tiverton Police Department. Arrests do not necessarily indicate convictions.

Tiverton Police arrested Robert C. Leeming, 36, of 90 Charles Drive Apt. 3, Tiverton on Aug. 16 at 10:25 p.m. and charged him with domestic felony assault - his third such offense. According to reports, police responded to Leeming's condominium for a report of a domestic dispute. Upon their arrival police spoke with the apparent victim, a 34-year-old woman with who Leeming has a four-year-old child. The victim alleged Leeming put his hands around her neck and shoulders, choked her to the point of unconsciousness, and screamed he would kill her before he slammed her on kitchen floor and left on foot. This all allegedly took place in front of the pair's child. Based on the victim's report, Leeming was charged with felony domestic assault and…

Domestic Violence Advocate Helps Mend Battered Hearts

Julianna Hamor gives domestic violence victims the support they need.

Julianna Hamor holds a stack of papers close to her chest as she walks out of the Warren Police Department to her car. When she returns to her office at the Women's Resource Center, she looks over each page, carefully reading each victim's story of domestic violence, then picks up the phone and begins dialing.  "Usually I'm the first person that a victim talks to after the police," Hamor said, "and they can be very vulnerable, distraught and confused right after the trauma of an assault or attack." Hamor, the Law Enforcement Advocate for Bristol, Warren, Barrington and Tiverton, works as a liason between the local police departments and victims of domestic violence.
