After Four Years, Tiveton's Harbormaster Resigns

Tiverton Harbormaster David E. Vannier tendered his reisgnation at Monday's Town Council meeting.

The Town Council reluctantly accepted his resignation and one former Harbor Commission member argued against it on Monday night when Tiverton Harbormaster David E. Vannier handed in his resignation. "It is with a great amount of regret that we sit here and have to vote on a resignation of a person who has done tremendous work and done work above and beyond," said Brett Pelletier, councilor. After four years patrolling Tiverton's waters and overhauling the mismanaged Harbor Department, Vannier is confident that he is leaving Tiverton in a better place than where he found it. Sorry to see him resign ,but family has to be first. Tiverton has been made better by the volunteers who serve . I hope he stays as active as time allows. Disagreements on policy issues are part of Representative Government. Those differences are decided by a vote of elected citizens . The chips fall with that vote. We move on and live with the decision or try to change it in the next election. …   more ›
