The state representative, who was arrested earlier this year on an outstanding Massachusetts warrant, failed to collect enough signatures to appear on the November election ballot, reported The Providence Journal on Friday. Incumbent state Rep. Dan Gordon (Dist. 71, Little Compton, Portsmouth and Tiverton) submitted 61 names to Portsmouth Town Hall on Friday; however, only 28 of the names were accepted by the Board of Canvassers, reports The Providence Journal. Dan Gordon (Dist. 71, Little Compton, Portsmouth and Tiverton) will run for a second term in office, according to his declaration papers filed at Portsmouth Town Hall this week. A District Court judge dismissed the misdemeanor, driving on a suspended license charge against Rep. Dan Gordon Tuesday morning in Second District Court, according to WPRO News Radio. Gordon (Dist. 71, Portsmouth, Tiverton and Little Compton) was arrested on Friday, Sept. 16, as a fugitive from justice on a Massachusetts warrant for failure to appear on an eluding charge and other motor vehicle violations, according to the State Police report. The arrest stemmed from an investigation into Gordon's visit to the State Police Portsmouth barracks on Sept. 14, when the representative filed a "cyberstalking" complaint.
