Friday, Feb. 8: 1 p.m. — Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority (RITBA) monitoring winds speeds; could result in later closing of Mount Hope and Newport Pell bridges. 12:30 — Governor declares State of Emergency ahead of storm, reports NBC 10 News. 12 p.m. — RIPTA bus service is suspended at noon. The DOT recommends all drivers to stay off roads this afternoon. 10 a.m. - Snow is sticking! 4:30 a.m. - The National Weather Service (NWS) in Taunton, MA is predicting "an historic storm" with snow accumulations of 18 - 24 inches.
