Little Compton Tree Committee to Give Holly Trees to Students

It's in celebration of Arbor Day, and the committee recently gave awards at its annual meeting.

The following is a press release: The Little Compton Tree Committee will be celebrating Arbor Day this year by giving Ilex opaca, Holly trees to all the sixth grade students. Holly trees will also be available to those who live in the town. They can be picked up in the Commons near the Post Office on Saturday morning, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Planting instructions will be available for these free trees. National Arbor Day is Friday, April 27. At the Annual Meeting of LCTree, two awards were given. The first went to the Volunteer of the Year; Cindy Sheldon for her work on mulching the Fagus sylvatica ‘Pendula”, weeping Europeran beech tree which was planted in 1976 to Celebrate the country’s Bicentennial.
