Be wary. Some of these places give to inmates. The reason I took myself off the donors list.

lol...I was wondering same thing, Keith Lucy; why would anyone care who gets their blood, as long asRead More they NEED it. Here's one for you on-the-fencers; a veteran nurse once told me that one pint of blood can service up to FIVE (5) premature babies. That should be enough fodder to push you into a Red Cross blood drive.

The point...Keith and sph...is that this patch crap posts the same stuff regional. RI gets its bloodRead More from the RI Blood Center and when Red Cross swoops in the blood goes anywhere. RI ends up with shortages and the needs here get tight. I don't care who gets the blood and encourage any able bodied person to donate. That was an FYI for anyone from RI reading this post that may think that they are helping in RI when they are not. And yes...when Mass calls for blood from the RI Blood Center and they are able to they send it. Same goes for when people donate after a tragedy thinking they are directly helping. They are not. A lot of the blood ends up going bad because they get too much. If called they will always ask you to donate year round and avoid the urge to 'help' during a tragedy. Just call and ask and they will tell you that...ANY blood center.

It would be great if Tiverton could actually post the beach closing at Fogland's entrance if there'sRead More a high bacteria problem. After myself and my 2 yr old went swimming in it yesterday, today I now read it was closed!! There was nothing posted at the life-guard chair either. PLEASE POST CLOSINGS AT THE BEACH!

The Magna Carta is mere scribbling when compared to the timeless prose of the Second Amendment. TheRead More NRA believes the Second Amendment could and should stand alone. The rest of the Constitution is unnecessary. Might makes right. He who has the guns makes the rules. This is the NRA.
OldTownie July 22, 2014 at 04:35 pm
Yeah, good luck with that.

It is not the guns in gangs in Chicago....that is gruesome enough...it is the lax enforcement of gunRead More laws at gun shows and shops in states with lax laws and a winkandanod when it comes to straw purchases. The absolutism of the gun lobby and NRA is vicious and causes literally hundreds if not thousands of deaths a year in unfettered acessibility to weapons that have only one purpose.....killing humans. Until we address that failed mechanism we will only be able to address the violence and availability of firearms in innercity areas. It is not the true fault of the minorities....arm them and they will shoot....but the absolutism of the NRA and its' Congressional minions

A child's blow up swimming pool left on top of a patio table had 4.5 inches of rain water in itRead More Saturday morning in Bristol. Perhaps not a very scientific way of measuring total rainfall, but good enough to be in the ball park I imagine.
