Those bastards are trying to kill us with cheese!
South Bay Jane April 21, 2014 at 11:46 am
Who cares about cheese? What about all the other animal body parts, poo-poo, dirt, preservativesRead More and other unknown crap that's inside a hotdog?
Bob McBride April 21, 2014 at 11:55 am
They're on the label, Jane, euphemistically or otherwise. Cheese is not. You may say, "WhatsRead More one more artery clogging byproduct of America's agricultural system when considering the whole?", but the US Dept. of Ag. begs to differ. People have a right to know whether they're consuming a cheesy wiener, nor not.

There seems to be a lot of unnecessary anger in many of the posts above. One that jumped out wasRead More that one may "deserve" to be vandalized for their license plate. No one deserves to have any type of crime perpetrated on them. It may well be the outcome because of the bigoted world we live in, but if a young woman puts tacky pink shag decor all over her car, showing the world that a young woman is driving this vehicle, she does not deserve to be attacked. It may be safer to not stand out it that way, but no one "deserves"to be punished for their taste or opinion. Bells ringing, not my favorite, but, if we want total peace and quiet, we may need to relocate to accomplish this. This may not seem fair, but it is realistic. The needs of the many... Imho, the real license plate issue is one of tolerance, or lack therof. There seems to be no profanity or targeted crime of hate going on with this license plate request. We respect and rely on our Freedom of Speech and Religious Choice rights, but we can't have it both ways. It can't be a right only when one agrees with what is being communicated. No one would think of denying a plate that read "Christian". I think people need to take a step back and remember that this is not the kind of request that will negatively impact anyone. You will either agree or disagree and that is the right we all have as Americans. You can agree or disagree with all of the amendments, the call a sports official makes or the grade your kid got on a test. You have the right to discuss your views and try to convince others of your opinion, but censorship is not the answer.
nonoise April 21, 2014 at 12:23 pm
Cheryl, I agree with you except moving is not always an option. And, no one should have to moveRead More because of a noisy church.
Sharon H April 21, 2014 at 12:24 pm
There is nobody so "in your face" as are most Christians. Frankly, I am tired of theirRead More pushing their beliefs in the faces of others. We non-believers are constantly called names, harassed, etc. We have only had to get more militant in the last few years as attacks on us have become more virulent and we see this country turning into a fundamentalist, backward nation. We don't harm anyone and yet have always been made the victims. Although the Christians constantly love to portray themselves as martyrs and that their religion is always under attack.

Definitely will add these to my long, long list of "to reads". Maybe I'll live longRead More enough to get to them all. Just finished an oldie but goodie ... but you know? The stories only stay with me for a while, I read so much that I forget what I've already read and after the first few pages, I get into it again and often continue since I liked it the first time around. There will never be enough hours in any day to read all I want to and thank goodness and God for Goodreads and, of course, my library and you, Danielle, for adding to my lists. Was offered a Kindle but know what? I really prefer to hold that book in my lap to read, plus I prefer to use my library ... it's FREE, for goodness sake, why would I pay to read anything but a newspaper? And, even that can be gotten at the library. If nothing else, I just love the smell of a library! (Sorry for my longwinded-ness ... just love, love books.)
Mamie Huggins April 20, 2014 at 08:37 am
Hey Anna - I'm a book lover too and use the library on occasion. But it's not FREE as you say, it'sRead More paid for by us taxpayers. Also, when I buy a book, especially by an unknown and/or local author, I'm helping that person to keep writing.
Anna Bucciarelli April 20, 2014 at 05:48 pm
Of course you're right Mamie but if I don't have to part with an additional penny from my pocket IRead More feel it's a treat. And you're right too about keeping authors writing I especially like books by new, first-time novelists who often surprise me with the wonder of their words.

I think it was a absolute wonderful "gift" to the couple. There has always been singing inRead More the Catholic Church and this "gifted" priest only added to the couples' day.
Peg Carbone April 21, 2014 at 10:44 am
A wedding is a joyous occasion and meant to be a celebration. The song added to the celebratory moodRead More of their special day! It was a beautiful and memorable gift the priest surprised gave this couple. I do not believe Jesus meant for us to be so solemn although on certain days (I E: Good Friday) solemnity has it's place.

Of course Peter unlike the leftist lambs attacking you besides my water front view here I also haveRead More witnessed the bankrupting policies we have here in Rhode Island which has caused huge financial troubles for the State and municipal governments state wide but of course these leftist lambs attacking you will have no explanation for these socialist trends which have never worked anywhere . I do know having witnessed said policies on a world wide basis but these leftist lambs will never get it as when their minds of mush get programmed they will never see the light of day , only what they want to see which is far from reality and why we are where we are in present day. Of course they will never tell you why RI is a wasteland of unemployment/under employment also with most jobs created being part time . Now back to my nice waterfront views and a Happy Easter greetings to you Peter .

Ok........lots of happy people here. When my children were young we hid eggs in the yard for theirRead More hunt. One dog used to collect them before we went outside and put them on his bed, smelling the candy inside. Kids learned to trade dog treats to get their eggs back. People, remember -- There are FOUR subway lines that go into the Downtown Crossing / Back Bay area.Read More You don't HAVE to take the Green Line. The ORANGE line goes to Back Bay Station, and it's pretty centrally located. Also, consider watching the Marathon from a less-populated area, such as Framingham / Newton / Needham. No William, what she needs is about 50000 volts of electricity.Fry the fat yom up nice and crispy.
David Greenberg April 20, 2014 at 01:39 pm
So what you're saying william is that anyone who comes along and claims "PTSD",Read More "ABUSE", blah, blah blah should get a free pass? Why have laws then? The whole concept of making something a criminal act is that we want to discourage it from happening in the first place, by putting deterrents into effect. One such deterrent is PRISON, another is the Death Penalty. If this person was being abused, she had options BEFORE coming to this point - for whatever reason, she make a decision to kill someone, and a Jury of her peers determined her guilt. So off to jail she goes - hopefully FOREVER.

They want you to put the money in the machine. Have they lowered the prices? No. Now when you go to fast food places they want you to do their job for them. Pour your own drinks. Put the soda machine behind the counter and do the work that you want the minimum wage increase for.
