Station #2 of the Tiverton Department is located on Main Road in North Tiverton. It is one of three fire stations in the town with a full-time, paid staff. It is also where the office of the department's chief, Robert D. Lloyd, is located. The other two stations in Tiverton are located on Crandall Road and East Road.

There are currently 32 firefighters employed with the department. Roughly half of those employees are trained paramedics, while others are trained cardiac technicians. There are firefighters trained in dealing with hazardous materials and working in confined spaces and several are trained in water rescue. The department also has a Fire Prevention Bureau trained in building code inspection and compliance. Also, there are three firefighters trained in arson investigation, who work directly with the State Fire Marshal's office.

The ambulance service provided by the department is operated and maintained by its fire fighters and paramedics. Ambulances travel to St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River, Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, Newport Hospital and Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.

Tiverton firefighters work four shifts around the clock for a 48-hour week. There's a maximum of eight firefighters on duty and a minimum of seven on duty between the three fire stations. The Tiverton Fire Department works very closely with the departments in the neighboring communities of Little Compton, Westport, Fall River and Portsmouth.

The department handles approximately 2,500 calls annually, with about 65 percent in rescue and the remainder are fire calls. Lloyd has been the Tiverton chief for six years, succeeding Allan R. Jack, the current chief of the Seekonk Fire Department.
