Quicksand Pond/Goosewing Beach Preserve

Flag as Inappropriate

Goosewing Beach Preserve is just east of South Shore Beach, beginning at the Tunipers Pond breachway.
The 75-acre preserve consists of untouched shore, salt ponds and dunes that hail it as one of Rhode Island's most scenic places. This historic landmark has been owned by The Nature Conservancy and its partners since 1989. During the summer, The Nature Conservancy in Rhode Island actively manages Piping Plovers and Least Terns. Due to these rare nesting shorebirds, pets are not allowed between April and September. Please stay out of fenced areas to ensure the success of this fragile ecosystem. The Benjamin Family Environmental Center is located in the field behind Goosewing Beach. Visit during open hours to learn more about the local ecology, and enjoy free educational programs throughout the summer season. Goosewing Beach is free and open to the public, however it is only accessible by the South Shore Beach parking lot. For More Information visit nature.org/rhodeisland, or call 401-331-7110
