Sogkonate and Little Compton Garden Clubs Thankful For Earth Day Help

Youth from various Little Compton groups and organizations joined in the clean-up effort.

The Sogkonate and Little Compton Garden Clubs wish to thank all who contributed their support, time and energy to the Little Compton litter collection and beautification effort to honor Earth Day 2012.

According to coordinator Sandy Farr, a particularly large number of young people helped this year: Brownie Troop #237; Junior Girl Scout Troop #698; Cub Scout Pack #10; Boy Scout Troop #29; the Little Compton Youth Initiative Group; School Sisters; the After School Program; all the students at ; as well as parents, group leaders and teachers. The Sakonnet Preservation Association also helped collect debris from the streets, beaches and preserved lands of Little Compton.

Farr said the impressive results of their Earth Day cleanup clearly demonstrate that taking a few moments to be good stewards of the environment preserves the natural beauty of our town and allows us to more fully appreciate its uniqueness.
