Students Unveil Vibrant Tiverton Middle School Mural

It's located in the hallway leading to the school gym.

students unveiled a new mural in the school last week. The large piece now occupies the wall space in the hallway near the gymnasium.

Art teacher Adam Tracy said 13 students were instrumental in getting the mural completed, and the Sakonnet Arts Network supplied the funding for the work. Initiated in February, he said the mural took approximately nine weeks to complete, with students meeting after school every Wednesday for about an hour and a half.

"There's so many boring cinder block areas around school," Tracy said, noting that hallway sees a lot of foot traffic for basketball games, concessions and students frequenting through there during lunch period.

Spanning several feet vertical and horizontal, the mural has giant letters "TMS" and a young fox, the school's mascot. Tracy said the frame of the mural has emblems symbolizing every subject taught at the school.

"Everyone loves the mural and we'd love to do more," he added.
