Special Meeting Scheduled To Discuss Stafford Pond Activities

The Tiverton Conservation Commission is holding a special meeting/public hearing on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. at Tiverton Town Hall, 343 Highland Road.

The meeting will be held to discuss possible changes to Chapter 15 of the Town Code on “drinking Water Reservoirs.”

The purpose of the meeting/hearing is to discuss possible changes to the ordinance that might affect people whose property borders Stafford Pond or who otherwise use the pond for various activities.

This discussion may include, but is not limited to prohibition of all fishing tournaments in 2014; boats on the Pond (motor type and size); swimming and other activities in the pond; use of the pond by seaplanes and floatplanes; prevention of non-native aquatic species from becoming established in the pond and the deposition of materials into the pond and/or its tributaries.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend.
