Sakonnet River Bridge Toll Could Be Eliminated

The bridge connects Tiverton and Portsmouth.

State lawmakers on Thursday were expected to review a proposal that would eliminate a toll on the Sakonnet River Bridge.

State Sen. Louis DiPalma (D-Dist. 12, which includes Little Compton, Middletown, Newport, Tiverton) is the lead sponsor of a bill that would do away with the toll.

The bridge connects Tiverton and Portsmouth.

Lawmakers will discuss the proposal during a hearing Thursday afternoon, according to the Herald News.
