Tiverton voters approved the $7 million library bond on Tuesday based on results from its four precincts. Absentee and provisional ballots are still coming in.
Question 1 received 2,351 (53.92 percent) approval and 2,009 (46.08 percent) rejection votes.
The proposal plans to put the new library in a central location in Tiverton, near the , , the Sandywoods Farm housing development and the Bliss Four Corners neighborhood. The state-of-the-art building is slated to be approximately 24,000 square feet and is estimated to cost $11.6 million. After tonight's vote, the town's contribution is slated for approximately $2.9 million of the $7 million in bonded debt.
