Final Steps Underway for the Sakonnet River Bridge

The Department of Transportation releases its final update on Sakonnet River Bridge construction.

It might appear the Sakonnet River Bridge is complete, but there's still a few more final steps, according to the Department of Transportation.

The DOT recently released its latest and final update for the Sakonnet River Bridge construction.

According to the update, which was posted for the week of Sept. 9-14, the on‐ramp from Route 138 (Main Road) to Route 24 South is open to traffic. Central Avenue and the temporary road connecting Quaker Avenue to Main Road are also open to traffic.

The final pavement surface has been placed on Route 24 North and South in both Tiverton and Portsmouth.

Final activities include landscaping, installing bridge plaques, and working on decorative lighting.
