Conservative Writer Lambasts Council on Town Manager Fiasco

Justin Katz, a prominent conservative writer for Anchor Rising and the Ocean State Currant, blasted members of the Tiverton Town Council for their responses to members of the public at a recent Town Council meeting.

During the public comment portion of the meeting, residents took turns expressing "their displeasure with the way the council let an incompetent town administrator. . .ease into retirement and let an employee who was filmed apparently stealing time and resources from the town. . .ease into his own lucrative retirement," Katz wrote.

Several council members responded to the public admonishment by saying they inherited the problem and handled it as best they could.

Katz took issue with the council's explanation that they "had no good options" when it came to the fate of the former manager and employee.

"And thus, a council stocked with a majority that has been involved in negotiating contracts and newer members who gained their seat with strong support from town employees complains that the system that they and their allies and friends have set up ties their hands," Katz wrote.

jrmb why would we want to kill ourselves? living here is great. . I have my Obama care, my food stamps. The state sends me a welfare check every month and section 8 pays my rent and I get free heating oil. The best part is JRMB is paying for it all. Keep up the good work Comrade. I just love socialism.

let's clarify: conservative, check. Prominent (only in his mind), writer? That may be pushing it.

Justin is just a whiny partisan hack. He had no problem with the TCC counsel stealing several hundred thousand from the school side. He is still just bitter since he was unable to win an election. What a dweeb.

As a professional writer and wife of an English teacher, I would grade Justin's efforts as a D, and that is being kind. He seems to be trying to become politically relevant again in Tiverton. I hope the citizens remember "Buttongate," and the futile attempt to couple Tiverton's wonderful Celebration with a political agenda.

Mr Katz, when you are writing and article, please get facts straight!!! You right a half article with nothing the Council had explained on why and how much money it would cost if litigation or law suit were involved!! These two men are under a contract and have union support!! I hope people watch the meeting on Ch 19 to get the facts!! Also election year is here, it seems all year no one comes to the meetings Monday night all ex TCC were there !!!
