Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Drug Arrest for Tiverton Man

A seatbelt violation turned into a felony drug possession charge for one Tiverton man.

A 23-year-old Tiverton man was arrested on felony drug possession charges after police stopped him for not wearing a seatbelt, according to reports.

Justin Cody Massa, 23, of 4 Fish Road Apt. 1, Tiverton, was arrested on July 23 at 7 p.m. after two officers saw him driving near the intersection of Conanicus and Main roads and not wearing his seatbelt. Police stopped Massa's car and after a computer check, learned that his license was suspended.

During a subsequent search of his car, police found four and a half oxycodone pills inside the driver's seat and less than one ounce of marijuana in the car.

Massa was charged with driving with a suspended license, felony possession of oxycodone and driving in possession of a controlled substance. Police issued a citation to Massa for the marijuana possession.
