Tiverton Woman Caught Allegedly Writing Her Own Prescription

A Tiverton woman was arrested this week after allegedly obtaining a code to write prescriptions for herself, a felony.

Who needs a doctor when you can write your own prescriptions? For one Tiverton woman, allegedly writing her own prescriptions for the drug
Clonazepam landed her in trouble with authorities this week.

Jessica M. Pawlik, 36, of 43 Maple Drive, Tiverton, allegedly broke the code for prescriptions, police learned through an investigation.

Working with the Drug Enforcement Agency, Tiverton Police Detective Jason Dunlea received a Medicare Fraud complaint from the CVS Pharmacy at 500 Main Road.

Through their investigation, the DEA and Dunlea learned a prescription code, a special numerical code used by doctors to call in or order a prescription drug online, had been obtained illegally.

"That number was compromised on five separate occasions," said Lt. Patrick Jones of the Tiverton Police Department.

The investigation led police to Pawlik, who allegedly filled a prescription for the drug Clonazepam on five visits to CVS.
