Tiverton Ranked 12th Most Violent Community in RI

Tiverton ranked 12th out of 37 Rhode Island communities according to 2012 FBI data. Little Compton was listed as one of least violent.

Tiverton is ranked as the twelfth most violent community in the state, according to analysis conducted by golocalprov.com. The study used 2012 crime statistics released by the FBI earlier this week.

Out of 37 Rhode Island communities that report crime data to the FBI, Tiverton ranked no. 12. Of the 22 violent crimes reported in Tiverton for the year, there were two forcible rapes, two robberies and 18 aggravated assaults. The survey weighs crimes statistics against town population to determine the per capita incidence of violent crime.

Little Compton, however, was ranked at the bottom of the list. The town tied with Richmond as the least violent in the state. The town reported zero violent crimes in 2012.
