A Tiverton man was arrested last week after allegations of assaulting a 15-year-old girl.
Brian McCollum, 32, of 230 Robert Gray Ave., Tiverton, was arrested by at 9:02 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4, at his residence. He was charged with simple assault.
According to Lt. Patrick Jones, McCollum was alleged to have assaulted a 15-year-old girl, who is the daughter of his girlfriend. Jones said the girl, and her biological father, entered the police station last week to file the complaint. The girl's father alleged that on two separate occasions McCollum "rubbed the sides of her arms and allegedly attempted to kiss her on the neck and forehead."
"Based on that, a warrant was signed for his arrest," said Jones.
Man found at Fort Barton Redoubt with booze and pot
Peter J. Mello Jr., 18, of 33 Butterfly Trail, Dartmouth, MA, was arrested at 10:47 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4, at the off Highland Road. Mello was charged with possession of marijuana (first offense) and possession of alcohol by an underage person.
According to Jones, officers responded to the Fort Barton tower area near for a vehicle parked in a no-parking zone. He said officers went to the operator side of the vehicle and found Mello seated, and three bottles of alcohol and several bags of marijuana were found on the passenger seats.
Assault over a pet
Denys Tarter, 23, of 164 Lawrence Court, Tiverton, was arrested at 9:53 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 4, at his residence. He was charged with domestic simple assault.
According to Jones, the assault victim, Tarter's brother, entered the police station alleging that an altercation took place at their residence and he was punched in he face and in the back of the head.
"He was bleeding from the mouth and back of the head," Jones said.
Jones said the alleged assault was over a family pet.
