Taunton Woman Charged With Heroin Possession

A 36-year-old Taunton woman was charged with felony drug possession after police allegedly found heroin in her purse during a traffic stop.
Kellie A. Sargent, 36, of 137 Washington St. Apt. 2, Taunton, MA was charged with felony possession of a scheduled narcotic after Tiverton Police allegedly found two bags of heroin in her purse.
Sargent was a passenger in a gray SUV that was parked on Bay Street on Monday, July 15 at 9:04 a.m. partially blocking the eastbound lane when Tiverton Police stopped to investigate. Police watched the male driver start working on something in the back of the car. As police looked inside, officers say an orange cap to a hypodermic needle and several empty blue wax bags known for storing heroin in Sergant's purse and beside it in the passenger seat.
Police arrested Sargent placed under arrest for possession of heroin. After a thorough search of the car, police found 16 empty bags and two filled.
Sargent was arraigned in Second Division District Court on Tuesday, July 16.
