Police Charge Driver With Possessing 'Molly,' Speeding

The following is based on reports from the Tiverton Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Tiverton police made the following arrests recently.

  • Bruno N. Souza, 19, of 892 Bulgarmarsh Road, Apt. 1, Tiverton, was arrested on Oct. 5 at 11:46 p.m. after a traffic stop on Bulgarmarsh Road. Police say Souza was charged for possession of the drug known as "Molly" or MDMA. He was also charged with driving in possession of a controlled substance.  According to police, the vehicle was seen speeding on Bulgarmarsh Road. The operator, Souza, also failed to provide a driver's license and current inspection sticker for the vehicle.

  • Carol Durkin, 72, of 100 Lewis St., Tiverton, was arrested on Sept. 30 at 6:30 p.m. after police were called to Russell Drive. Durkin apparently got into an argument with a Tiverton man. Durkin was charged with obstructing an officer in the execution of duty, resisting arrest and simple assault. 

  • Cory John Pedro, 29, of 31 Meadowbrook Lane, Westport, MA, was arrested on Oct. 1 in connection with the burglary of a Tiverton home. Pedro was charged with burglary/breaking and entering of a dwelling. According to police, Pedro allegedly broke into the home by breaking a glass door. He was also wanted on two bench warrants at the time of his arrest. 

  • Elizabeth Carvalho, 32, of 3715 Main Road, Tiverton, was arrested on Oct. 5 at her residence after police were called for a domestic disturbance. Carvalho allegedly became involved in an argument with two relatives at the property. Carvalho was charged with domestic, simple assault, and domestic, simple assault and battery.
