Police Arrest Robbery Suspect in Tiverton

A Fall River, MA, man was arrested after a motor vehicle stop Tuesday morning on Bulgarmarsh Road in Tiverton, announced the Rhode Island State Police Wednesday afternoon. 

The man was wanted on several criminal charges, including the alleged robbery of two banks and two convenience stores. 

State Police from the Wickford barracks stopped a vehicle Tuesday at 1:58 a.m. on Old Bulgarmarsh Road in Tiverton. The vehicle was stopped for a headlight violation, according to police.

Police soon identified a passenger inside the vehicle as Michael Pacheco, 33, of 83 Quarry St., Fall River. 

Pacheco was wanted by the Fall River Police Department in connection with four robberies in Fall River, MA.

Pacheco was arrested and transported toRhode Island State Police headquarters. 

He was also interviewed by members of the Fall River PoliceDepartment regarding recent robberies at the St. Anne’s CreditUnion, Bay Coast Bank, Tedeschi Food Mart and a 7-Eleven convenience store, all located in the city of Fall River. 

Pacheco was arraigned Tuesday on the following charges: obstruction of an officer, operating on a suspended license and as a fugitive from justice from the Commonwealth ofMassachusetts. 

He was also charged by the Fall River PoliceDepartment with the following: unarmed robbery; two counts, attempt to commit a crime; armed robbery; and assault to commit a felony.

Pacheco waived extradition and was turned over to the Fall RiverPolice Department. He is scheduled to appear for a pre-trial conference at Second Division District Court on Nov. 5.
