NK Police Log: Driver Charged With DUI After Causing Crash

The following information was supplied by the North Kingstown Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Woman Charged With DUI After Accident

Gail S. Reynolds, 55, of 3 Krzak Rd., Apt. B in North Kingstown was arrested Jan. 13 at 11:39 a.m. on charges of driving under the influence and cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test.

According to reports, Reynolds struck an SUV while travelling north on Post Road. The SUV was stopped at a red light waiting to turn left on to Devils Food Road. According to a witness, Reynolds made no attempt to slow down or brake to avoid hitting the vehicle. When the witness spoke to Reynolds after the crash, she allegedly appeared to be under the influence.

As police spoke with Reynolds, they also noted she appeared to be under the influence – displaying bloodshot eyes and with heavily slurred speech. Her pupils were also extremely dilated. She initially told police she did not drink or take any drugs before driving, but then allegedly admitted to taking medications.

After Reynolds allegedly failed her field sobriety test, she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. She refused to take a Breathalyzer test at the North Kingstown Police Department.

Woman Arrested Three Years After Writing Bad Check

Pamela Jean Coutu, 54, of 543 Plain Meeting House Rd. in West Greenwich was arrested Jan. 12 at 7:01 p.m. on charges of writing fraudulent checks.

According to reports, Coutu wrote a bad check worth $102 to the Town of North Kingstown on Oct. 5, 2009. Coutu allegedly never remedied the situation and paid the check before the deadline – July 23, 2010. The Rhode Island State Police took her into custody on Jan. 12, 2013 – more than three years after she allegedly wrote the bad check – and turned her over to the North Kingstown Police Department.
