Man Allegedly Threatens Mother of Child With Knife

The following reports were supplied by the Tiverton Police Department. Arrests do not necessarily indicate convictions.

Police made the following arrests this week.

  • Eric Souza, 29, of Fall River, MA, was arrested on Sept. 4 and charged with the following: domestic vandalism; disorderly conduct; and domestic, refusal to relinquish the telephone. Souza was also wanted on an outstanding warrant from Tiverton police. The arrest stems from an incident that occurred on Sept. 4 at 6:30 a.m. on Clement Street. Police first received a report of a man with a knife. According to police reports, Souza became involved in an argument with his ex-girlfriend, the mother of his child, and his ex's new boyfriend. During the argument, Souza allegedly threatened the two verbally and pulled out a knife. When his ex-girlfriend tried to call police, Souza allegedly pulled the phone away from her. He also allegedly kicked in a door during the argument. He then left the area in a vehicle before being arrested by Middletown police. He was arraigned in Newport Second District Court, where bail was set at $1,000 with surety.
  • Jared Gagne, 33, of Fall River, MA, was arrested on Sept. 7 at 7:28 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence. Police received a report of a vehicle swerving over the roadway. Officers later detected an aroma of alcohol coming from the vehicle after the traffic stop. Gagne apparently failed a field sobriety test and was transported to the police station, where he underwent a Breathalyzer test. His Blood Alcohol Count (BAC) was recorded at .15 on the first phase and .138 on the second phase.
