Driver Arrested After Vehicle Hits, Snaps Pole in Half

The Little Compton Police made the following arrests and citations last week:

David DeCosta, 28, of 200 Hilton St., Tiverton, was arrested on Monday, Aug. 5 at 9:10 p.m. and charged with driving with an expired license after police stopped his car for a headlight violation.

Carl Berg, 21, of 14 West Main Road, Little Compton, was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 8 at 4:51 p.m. and charged with driving after suspension of his license after he was stopped for not wearing a seat belt.

Richard Higgins, 61, of 15 Grove St., Concord, MA, was arrested on Friday, Aug. 9 at 8:58 p.m. and charged with driving on an expired license after police stopped him for speeding.

Christopher Riegel, 23, of 101 Columbia St., Fall River, MA, was arrested on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 2:03 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence after he crashed into a utility pole on West Main Road. Although no one was injured in the crash, Riegel's car sustained heavy front-end damage and the pole snapped in half.

William Anderson 56, of 120 Wrenthan Road, Cumberland, was arrested on Sunday, Aug. 11 at 7:29 p.m. and charged with driving with a suspended license after police stopped his car for having expired registration stickers.

Zoe Mello, 23, of 315 State Ave., Tiverton, was arrested on Sunday, Aug. 11 at 9:50 p.m. and charged with driving with an expired license after police stopped her for a display lights violation.

Incidents:

A resident reported on Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 11:32 p.m. that a sign was broken and stolen from the Warrens Point Beach Club.

A resident reported on Thursday, Aug. 8 at 8:53 a.m. that a “No Parking” sign attached to a barrel and a lifeguard flag were taken from South Shore Beach.

A resident of John Dyer Road reported on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 8:23 p.m. that eight prescription pills were missing from a pillbox located in his bathroom. The pills were last seen four months ago.

A Colebrook Road resident reported on Saturday, Aug.10 at 8:24 a.m. that a lawn mower, two snow tires, a go cart, a roll cage and two seats that were stored behind a residence were reported missing.
