Little Compton Police Arrest 2 on DUI Charges

The following is based on reports from the Little Compton Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Little Compton police made the following arrests recently. 

  • Matthew Poirier, 28, of 40 Hambly Road, Tiverton, was arrested on Sept. 18 at 8:23 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence (DUI), first offense. Poirier was arrested after the vehicle he was operating was stopped for speeding.
  • Kyla Betts, 36, of 5 West Main Road, Little Compton, was arrested on Sept. 26 at 11:47 a.m. and charged with DUI, first offense. Betts was arrested after the vehicle she was operating was stopped for driving through a stop sign and failing to use a turn signal.
  • Police also responded to two accidents, in which vehicles struck deer. On Sept. 25, at 7:02 p.m., a vehicle operated by a 45-year-old Little Compton man struck a deer in the area of 615 West Main Road. The deer caused damage to the driver's truck. The driver was uninjured. Also on Sept. 25, at 11:02 p.m., a vehicle was damaged after a deer ran into the roadway in the area of 74 Mullin Hill Road. The vehicle sustained damage as a result. The driver, a 58-year-old Little Compton woman, was uninjured.
