LC Police Log: Warrants, Crash on Long Highway

The following arrests and incidents were reported by Little Compton police. They do not indicate a conviction.

June 24

Police charged Nancy Mercier, 52 of 80 B Long Highway in Little Compton, with a warrant at 9:39 a.m. Police said they had knowledge that Mercier was wanted and responded to her residence where she was subsequently arrested for having an active bench warrant for failure to appear in court for re-arraignment.

Police charged Jorge Lopes, 32, of 89 Rockland Street, Fall River, Mass., with a warrant at 2:43 p.m. Police said an Officer stopped a vehicle on West Main Road for a motor vehicle violation and identified Lopes as the operator who was subsequently arrested for having an active bench warrant for failure to pay outstanding restitution.

Police charged Jose Morales, 44, of 501 Washington Street Lynn, Mass., with disorderly conduct at 5:37 p.m. Police said officers responded to Bluff Head Avenue for the report of a highly intoxicated male who was acting out of control. The male was identified as Morales who was subsequently arrested for disorderly conduct.

June 29 

Police charged Richard Tavares, 43 of 167 Cliff Avenue, Swansea, Mass., with driving with a suspended license at 11:06 a.m. police said an officer stopped a vehicle on Colebrook Road for a motor vehicle violation and identified Tavares as the operator who was subsequently arrested for driving with a suspended license. 

Police charged Jennifer Pacheco, 42 of 396 Middle Street, New Bedford, Mass., with a warrant at 11:06 a.m. Police said Pacheco went to pick up Tavares’ vehicle when she was subsequently arrested for having an active warrant out of Tiverton for check fraud. 

Crash
A 75-year-old Fall River., Mass., woman was transported to the hospital with minor injuries after a crash involving a vehicle into a pole on Long Highway on June 26, police said.

The crash happened at around 2:48 p.m.

Police said the driver Catherine Britland was treated for minor injuries and the vehicle suffered major damage.
