Fall River Man Rapes Local Woman Hours After His Release From Jail

Tiverton Police arrested a 29-year-old Fall River man in the Nov. 2, 2011 rape of a local woman.

 

Tiverton Police arrested a 29-year-old local man for the rape of a Tiverton woman hours after he was released from prison last November, The Sakonnet Times reports.

Just hours after being released from the Adult Correctional Institute (ACI) last year, Jason M. Torres, 29, of Fall River, allegedly assaulted the woman and violated two no-contact orders she had obtained against him

According to the Sakonnet Times, the alleged rape occurred on Nov. 2, 2011. Torres was in a Massachusetts prison on unrelated charges until his release on Tuesday, Oct. 9. Tiverton Police charged Torres with sexual assault in the first degree and the two no-contact order violations.

Torres arrived at the victim's home at about 11:15 a.m. on the day of the Nov. 2 and when the victim attempted to call police, he took the phone and assaulted her. Two of the victims young children were in the house.

The victim said she was never advised by ACI that Torres had been released.

Torres is being held in the ACI, reported the Sakonnet Times.
