Four Youths Seriously Injured After SUV Strikes Tree Head-on

A vehicle, with four people inside, struck a tree Friday evening on West Main Road in Little Compton, reports The Providence Journal.

Police are on scene at what is being described as a "serious" car crash.

According to Little Compton police, the department received several calls at 3:05 p.m. about a serious car crash on West Main Road near Block House Lane.

Police arrived to find four juveniles inside a SUV that struck a tree head-on.

All four youths, including three boys and a girl, sustained injuries.

Two youths were flown by helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital.

The other two victims were transported by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital.

WPRI reports two of the victims were brothers. The names of the victims are not being released due to their age.

All of the injuries appear to be serious, police said.

Rescue personnel from Little Compton, Tiverton, Westport and Portsmouth Fire Departments worked together at the scene to rescue the victims.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation at this time. Little Compton Police Officers Sue Cressman and Andrew Morgan are leading the investigation.
