UPDATED: The Great Clean-Up of Tiverton Patch 2014

Please read: A friendly reminder to ALL users.

UPDATE: April 2, 6:30 p.m. — As stated Monday, we try very, very hard to make sure that Tiverton Patch, and its sister sites, remain neighborly places were every voice in the community is heard.

Last month, over a dozen accounts were suspended for violations of the Patch Terms of Service. Two users appealed those suspensions, were verified by a Patch admin (Danielle) and restored. Others have remained in "Patchie Time Out."

It bears repeating: Do not flag content just because you don't like it. Do not flag content just because you disagree with it. Something you think is inaccurate may not be; so unless you have solid proof it is wrong, leave it be. Patch admins cannot be on this site 24/7 and will not be. No one should be silenced at Tiverton Patch. No one. All sides will be heard.

March 31, 11 a.m. — Here at Patch, we have been trying very hard to clean up our Tiverton Patch boards and commenting sections. It has been tireless work, as this site's Conversations has been unsupervised for too long.

This board post is *everyone's* one warning to adhere to the Patch Terms of Service. If, after this post (March 31, 11 a.m.) you are found to violate any of the Terms, your account will be temporarily suspended.

What should you do if your account is suspended?

TAKE A BREAK FROM THE SITE.

Do not create a new account and start posting under an alias. This doesn't help anyone, including yourself. Because if your alias breaks the Terms of Service? This warning has been posted, and so... The alias is going to be suspended, too.

Accounts will be reinstated at a later time — determined by Patch — and the user will be notified via the email attached to the account.

Some neighborly guidelines:

1) Use only one account to avoid confusion.
2) Stick to the issues at hand and leave personalities out of it.
3) Use the "Flag As Inappropriate" option judiciously — it is for TOS violations, not just because you disagree with someone or dislike him or her. TOS Refresher here!
4) Think about what you're typing — If you wouldn't say this in person at Dunks; on camera at a public meeting; or to your Mama or Grandma, don't say it on Patch.

Thank you!
