Rhode Island's Birthday, MayFair and Family Swim

Families can swim, play, draw, do yoga and meet some chickens this weekend!

As a family you can take a drawing class, do yoga, go to a Mayfair and have a swim.  You can also say Happy Birthday to Rhode Island and meet some chickens.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY RHODE ISLAND
    Where/When: Providence Children's Museum, 100 South Street , Providence, RI ; May 14 to 21, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    Why Go: Celebrate Rhode Island's 221st birthday month with a day of festive fun. Meet Rhode Island Red chickens and chicks from Casey Farm and learn about the life cycle of these feathered friends. Make a colorful pennant and raise a cup of coffee milk in honor of the smallest state.
    Price: Ages 5-11; program free with $8.50 admission.
  • FAMILY SEE + SKETCH
    Where/When: RISD Museum, 224 Benefit Street, Providence, RI, May 14 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
    Why Go: Enjoy a close look at a work of art together through lively discussion followed by sketching and activities in the galleries. All materials provided. Talks are 30 minutes. Ages 6 and up.
    Price: Admission: Members, children under 5, RISD, Brown students, faculty and staff get in for free. Adults are $10. Senior citizens are $7 and youth (ages 5-18) and college students are $3. Call 401-454-6500for more information.

  • Where/When: , 3913 Main Rd, Tiverton, RI 02878, May 15, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
    Why Go: Fun family exercise
    Price: $20 per family

  • Where/When: , 110 Sandy Point Ave., Portsmouth, RI, May 15, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    Why Go: MayFair transforms Pennfield’s campus into a hub of inflatables, face-painting stations, gourmet food tables and traditional fairground games that welcome the community to a spring extravaganza.
    Price: Free admission to the fair. There is also a silent auction.
  • Where/When: , 1 Old Ferry Rd, Bristol, RI 02809, May 15, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
    Why Go: Roger Williams University offers the community the use of its pool for family swim on Sundays. The pool is located in the Recreation Center on Campus. Children 12 & under must be accompanied by an adult with a maximum of 4 children under 12 per one adult. Ages 13 & up can use the pool without an adult.
    Price: $5.00 per family
