Cleaning Up the Boards: Take Two

Please read, everyday posters and commenters!

Updated: April 16, 4 p.m.
Good afternoon, Tiverton!

After seeing that all of my comments from earlier today were deleted, I had to come in and add my thoughts in a board post... that couldn't be deleted!!

I know that some users are very upset; I completely understand that. By restoring each and every comment, it was my intention to show one thing — that there are problems on this discussion board and it is coming from *all sides.* There is no one particular side to blame. Comments are being deleted; personal attacks being thrown; snide and rude remarks being made. There is no one person to blame — it's like a perfect storm: It's everything.

And it needs to end.

The "teacher" can't be in the room at all times. It's up to you guys to behave and discuss things with each other in a civilized manner. It's up to you guys to stop pushing each others buttons just to get a rise out of the other. (And don't pretend to be all innocent — you're all totally guilty of doing this.)

Some of you are waiting for me to come in here and spend my entire day cleaning up this site, deleting every possible comment that may go over the line, or swiping away every post that is close to violating the TOS. That is not going to happen. I have many more sites than just Tiverton to look after. It is up to you guys to behave like neighbors and stop playing these games. I will not be your referee.

Please take a look at the posting and account guidelines from the original post below. And follow them. We can all work together, I know we can!!

Thank you!
Danielle

Original post:
Good morning, Tiverton!

I have gone into the Moderation Queue and restored each and every comment - whether it violated the TOS or not - that was deleted over the last week. My hope is that it will show you all how everyone is acting!

I'd like to put forward some guidelines for posting and commenting:

1) The post should be relevant to the community as a whole.
2) The post cannot attack one member or group of the community. Note: Differences of opinion are not attacks.
3) The post cannot include a personal attack.

Guidelines for accounts:
1) Anonymous or "pen" names are FINE.
2) You should only have ONE account. Do not open more than one account.
3) Use an email that you check regularly for your account.
4) If a Patch administrator asks you to verify your account, do not ignore the message. It makes us cranky!!

Let's clean up these boards, everyone!

Thank you!
Danielle
