Gail Rodrigues, Former Tiverton Resident and Newport Teacher, Dies at 53

Gail M. (Beattie) Rodrigues, 53, formerly of Tiverton, died on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 in Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of Ronald B. Rodrigues.

Born in Newport, she was the daughter of Donald “Duck” Beattie of Portsmouth and the late Annabelle “Sissy” (Harvey) Beattie.

Gail was a 1978 graduate of Middletown High School, she went on to receive her teaching degree from URI. She taught for 3 years at the Alternative School in Newport and another 23 years at Thompson Junior High School in Newport.

Besides her husband and father she leaves her children Ronnie Rodrigues and Ashley Rodrigues both of Tiverton. She leaves her brother Donald J. Beattie and his wife Doreen with their children Donnie and Billy of Middletown. Gail also leaves her sister Grace Louise of Portsmouth and her daughter Monique DeLaCruz along with her daughter Naveyah Marrocco. Gail was the daughter in law of Mary Elizabeth Silvia of Middletown and sister in law of Steven Rodrigues and his wife Karen of Middletown.

Gail was the sister in law of the late Sharon Diomandes.

Calling hours will be held Friday, July 12, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.

Her funeral will be Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 7:30am from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway at Vernon Avenue, Newport.

Burial will be at St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown.
