Tiverton Library Presents "How to Love Literature: Reading Like a Writer" with Justin Kramon at Sandywoods
In this popular seminar intended for both readers and writers, award-winning novelist Justin Kramon explores the art of storytelling from a writer's perspective. He examines how writers across the centuries build narratives. Through a guided discussion, the goal is to achieve a deeper appreciation, enjoyment, and even love of fiction. Justin discusses his personal experience of being moved and inspired by contemporary and classic books, and how he drew from this appreciation in his own work. His enthusiasm about novels is contagious. No experience needed. Writers, readers, book clubs, and any book enthusiast will get something out of this talk. It also includes a suggested reading list. Free and open to the public.
Justin Kramon is the award-winning author of the novels Finny (Random House 2010) and The Preservationist (Pegasus/WW Norton 2013). A graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop, he has received honors from the Michener-Copernicus Society of America, Best American Short Stories, the Hawthornden International Writers' Fellowship, and the Bogliasco Foundation. Justin has taught graduate and undergraduate fiction classes at many institutions, including Haverford College, The University of Iowa, Gotham Writers' Workshop, and Arcadia University.
